Janis Legzdinsh

Vavoom turns 7 years old today, and to celebrate this I've put together a new release with number 1.24. It brings multiple enhancements to the VavoomC scripting language, adds support for sprites with 16 rotations, has internal blockmap builder, adds support for compressed GL-nodes and several other improvements and bug fixes.

Yay. Happy birthday vavoom. Now all we need is a master server (Winks at Janis Legzdinsh)

I am being curious, what are those "sprites with 16 rotations"? I may imagine a sprite with 3 rotations (around 3 axes), but 16 is way too much... <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

You fail at doom... There are 8 rotations (or angles) for each monster/sprite. Having 16 just means twice the view-points

Janis, This is a brief message to say 'thank you' for the great Vavoom game engine. I have Vavoom-1.24 for Linux installed on my Compaq Deskpro EN, Pentium III 933 MHz, Mandriva 2007.0. Thus far, I have used Vavoom-1.24 to run Doom, Doom 2, and Hexen with no problems. The GLbsp-2.24 command-line GL-node builder and GLvis-1.6 also run very smoothly with no problems. The enhanced features of the Vavoom game engine are very much appreciated. Graphics are bright and crisply defined on my hp L1720 flat screen monitor. The overall gaming experience provided by Vavoom is far superior to that of the original game engine which ran on my AST 486DX2-66 MHz with 14-inch CRT monitor. I especially like the realistic flame effects. Vavoom definitely shows the results of seven years of programming work. I think its versatility and its many features should make it the first choice of anyone who wants to run old ID Software games the best way possible.
