Hi, probably some of you, or most, i dont know, have heard of this new clientt/server port of port of doom called Odamex, based on an early version of csdoom. It's supposed to be the new standard in multiplayer doom, and it's based on csdoom. It 's not yet released due to licensing problems. Their objective says on their site, is to bring doom multiplayer to everyone , regardless of whether they can run windows on their computer. This is where I think Vavoom is great for this task. Vavoom has a dos port, which is probably the only currently maintained dos port of doom. Does Janis, or someone here in the forum believe the dos flavor of vavoom could be worked so that it can connect to odamex master servers? That would greatly benefit the doom community, and it'd be a cool feature of vavoom to have :D

I don't see what's the point of doing so.

I think that we should first need to see how this odamex port works out before trying anything, I don't know how it's supposed to work.

Well, we'll know when Odamex is released, once all the licensing conflicts are worked out. They aren't releasing it yet, because of some code being licensed under the Hexen/Heretic license, which isnt GPL. But you would agree with me, that being able to connect online client-server from dos vavoom would be great.
