Vavoom, GPL and Heretic?

Iirc, Heretic and Hexen weren't under the GPL license but under a more restrictive license, and I was wondering if Vavoom used code from it, or have it's own in ways like the Strife emulation. Doom Legacy has a similar case but they're using actual Heretic code http://bugs.debian.org/264816 Just curious

Yes, they are not compatible, but what can I do? And I don't think anyone in Raven cares.

The last people who cared about the old fantasy games at all left Raven long ago.

I found a post by Kenn Hoekstra of Raven software saying that Heretic and Hexen source code is public domain now.

I wish the same would happen to the rest of the game too, so both KA and Korax' Heritage can be run w/o any external wadfiles.

We can, if we replace all of the graphics, sounds an music with free ones.

[quote="Janis Legzdinsh":163kd73l]We can, if we replace all of the graphics, sounds an music with free ones. Hence the existence of FreeHeretic but it's not hexen though Raven does agree about making their code GPL, but it's Activision that needs to be convinced.
