Texture replacement utility

It is rather an off-topic, since it is not about Vavoom, but just about map building. I've got a need for some utility or map-builder that can replace a texture names in whole map at once. I want to rename large number of textures in my project, but most of them are already in use.

If I understand what you are asking for, you need DoomBuilder for that. "Edit|Find and replace" then set "Search type" to "Linedef texture". Incidentally, if you need to *swap* texture names, there's nothing to stop you using a non-existent texture name, eg "ABCD1234" as a temporary name during a two-stage process. Note there is no support for wildcards!

Can you give me a link where I can download this Builder, please?

Oh my, it looks much toupher than WadAuthor that I use! And it allows to have maps of size 64.000 x 64.000. And it allows to view\edit map in 3dmode! And it has ACS IDE!!! why I haven't seen this before...

Hehe! I still use WadAuthor to make the whole maps I do, then use DoomBuilder to allign the textures properly and fix any problems the map might have.

Well, DoomBuilder has some disadvantages too. General one is that it needs surprisingly much resources to work. I usually design maps on old many-years-in-usage notebook and DB works rather slow there.

The latest 1.67 version of doombuilder is one hell of a crasher. Here's the more stable 1.66: http://www.planetgargoyle.com/loststuff ... tup166.exe

Nay, I haven't met any crushes there yet. Anyway, I do not use it much at all. I need it mostly for texture replacement.
