Running Vavoom? - How to play doom with Vavoom

Ive downloaded the vavoom-win-1.28, I presume its the vlaunch.exe, I open it and we get a launcher, from main we pick game Doom 2: hell on earth. Options for either open GL or Direct 3D, so one takes their pick, then we have custom game files and other options. My question is, how do we play, just plain old doom 2, ive tried putting in the location of my doom wad into files box, but nothing happens, perhaps I put the wad in one of the files on vavoom-win-1.28, Ive no idea, so my question is, just how do we use vavoom-win-1.28 to play doom in all its graphical 'updated-ness'?

Put it on the same directory where Vavoom.exe file is located, it should work then .

That did it, openGL, black mark errors, enemies AI messed up a bit, bad frame rates, Direct3D really bad frames rates, but otherwise OK, but unplayable as the frame rates are so bad. Ive been testing a few of the mods, Doomsday worked perfect, but I want to test ObHack the modifications to OBLIGE, and it wouldnt run the wads made with it. GZdoom, I ran that and it just made my screen black and my moniter settings flashed up, which it does when it dislikes something about a game, very rare, but I cant be bothered at the moment setting up another computer with it. So Im going through all the mods and seeing which will work with wads made with ObHack, I want to see how that level generator works, if its OK one can go over the levels and tart them up, I just want to see if it works as a base one can build upon. Not sure Ill be able to run Vavoom, see above How do you play the d2demo.wad you put out as a test bed for your mod. quite impressed with this - http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=35441 - skulltag/GZDoom I think. Im new to Doom, not new to developing, Ive done that for many years, so its tricky getting into a new engine and knowing what to use and where to go.

To play the maps generated by ObHack you simply copy the WAD file with the map you generated into the same directory where Vavoom.exe is placed, then you run the launcher, and in the line which says files you simply type the name of the WAD file, then hit the run button and you should be able to play . As for framerates, you can try to use a lower screen resolution depending on your graphics card, make sure it has the latest drivers, etc.

Before my answer, salutes to you all. Due to job, studies and family matter, i couldn't connect any more... And i think this won't change soon [quote="Firebrand":11wei9g0]To play the maps generated by ObHack you simply copy the WAD file with the map you generated into the same directory where Vavoom.exe is placed, then you run the launcher, and in the line which says files you simply type the name of the WAD file, then hit the run button and you should be able to play . Cya soon all.
