I would like to know if the Vavoom game-engine is dependent on specific MS-DOS game versions for all of its development cycles. Specifically, I would like to know if Vavoom users must have WADs from final game versions in order to use the Vavoom game-engine. Some game patches were not easy to find, particularly the Strife v1.0 to v1.2 patch. If anyone needs to patch Strife to its final version, I can arrange to "park" the necessary files on a web storage site for easy retrieval. Just post and ask. I also have the MS-DOS doom2.exe file, in case anyone wants to run Doom II using another emulator, without using the Windows game launcher. It works with the Doom II v1.9 WAD.

Of course it's highly recommended to have latest versions.

Doom 1.9

Very first versions have missing status bar background graphic (it was drawn by combining multiple parts), later ones should work.

Doom II 1.9

All versions should work.

Heretic 1.3

All versions should work.

Hexen 1.1

Version 1.1 is required.

Strife 1.31

I'm not sure about it. Maybe older versions will work, maybe not.
