The old GL/Direct3D limitation? Most cards nowadays have an extension to allow support for non-power of 2 textures, which means most sprites in Doom or Hexen or such could now be displayed without upscaling/downscaling to a power of 2 size.
I know GZDoom supports this. Will Vavoom ever do this? I do also realize that very few Quake ports do this either.
It would keep things from looking muddy.
EDIT: Also note that I don't mean wall textures, this applies to sprites and HUD numbers in general.
