I have switched forums software from YaBB to phpBB. It should work much faster than old forums and it will allow some new cool features such as comments to the news posts. I hope you will like it. Enjoy!

Ooooh! Phpbb! Good choice Custom user titles are gone, though Also you could install the attachments mod so people can upload screenshots of bugs as well as crash logs or so.

Attachments mod is a good idea. I will do it later. User titles also should be an another mod. ZDoom forums have them.

Hey great work Janis! Sorry for not having gotten around it myself though. Regarding user titles, that's not a mod but a standard phpBB feature, you can set them from the admin panel by post count.

No, what you are talking about is rankings. User title is what you can edit in profile like it was in YaBB. ZDoom forums have custon titles and probably that's why they have disabled signatures.

Nice change Janis, the design looks better though.

I know that titles went to interests (I had to modify convertor in order to make it work).

All old news also are here. If you haven't noticed yet the news page on main site is dynamic now.

[quote="Janis Legzdinsh":2gwemm7b]All old news also are here. If you haven't noticed yet the news page on main site is dynamic now. How'd you go about doing that? I wanna do the sames. (I use phpbb, and infact I have like 5 seperate phpbb's on my webspaces total)

The dynamic news page, reflecting off the forum's news forum?

Actually it's prety simple SQL query. Here's the file. Note that I'm using mysql_* functions directly. Feel free to play with it.

Yeah, I got it all set up and straightened out. http://www.fragfiles.org/~cheapy/fh

Is there some kind of width option for this new setup? My default resolution is 800x600, and everything is a bit too wide, like it's locked at 1024x768 size, unlike the old board, which fit everything in whatever size resolution you had... I kinda miss the old emoticons too...
Fri, 24 Sep 2004 06:24:32

Janis Legzdinsh

Actually it's the Vavoom logo and controls on the right that determines the width. That's an easy fix. As of emoticons it's easy to add missing old ones and a bunch of new ones, unlike the old board where they were hardcoded.

You could probably change the "overall header" around, to move the buttons below the vavoom logo, lining across, like my board: http://www.fragfiles.org/~cheapy/fbc
