GLVIS data building taking FOREVER!

Yeah, my long overdue project is finally completed. However, I'm now in the GLVIS data building stage of all the maps and its been like over 5 hours now and counting and the vis data building is still going strong for the final map. I left my PC on over night and its still counting down <!-- s:evil: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_evil.gif" alt="" title="Evil or Very Mad" /><!-- s:evil: --> The maps are not that big and uses very little static lighting, so I don't know why its taking so long to build. Any clues on whats the slowness about?

Complex map structure perhaps. I remember maybe 1 or 2 maps (not mine though) that I couldn't make full GLVIS for, because it was taking too long.

In that case, should I just don't bother running the maps with GLVIS and just simply run GLBSP instead? GLVIS is just some unneeded addon to GLBSP right?

It's not required anymore, but having it can improve performance.

I'm going to post a link up to the project for download and some feedback in a couple of hours. Just some quick info, on the vis data building window it says: Loaded MAP05, 5500 vertexes, 14321 segs, 2862 subsectors, 13158 portals Creating vis data ... 03510

[quote="gunrock":34ft7hgq]I'm going to post a link up to the project for download and some feedback in a couple of hours. Just some quick info, on the vis data building window it says: We'll be awaiting for it. Loaded MAP05, 5500 vertexes, 14321 segs, 2862 subsectors, 13158 portals Creating vis data ... 03510 It seems your map is not really large. I remember other maps i did, with nearly 4000 sectors, and GLBSP/GLVIS took no more than 10 minutes. All depends on you computer. My computer is "Duron 2.4 GHz, 2GB Ram" and thats the time it took. Instead, if you have any "annoying" process running in the background, such as antivirus scans or something, GLVIS will take much more for sure.
