[quote="skyhawk":1tdn4nvf]I compiled Vavoom-1.24 using the SDL development libraries. It is installed and running under Mandriva Linux 2007.0. I am presently using Vavoom to run DOOM2.WAD v1.666 (this WAD was downloaded from an abandonware site; I do not have the game CD). The game plays very nicely, but 'gimme music', please.
To keep things simple, let me ask two questions to begin this thread. I will probably have more questions later on.
1. Can somebody point me to documentation that covers getting music to play? I have the 'TiMidity++2.13.2-15mdv2007.0' RPM package installed, but I notice that the console output contains the lines:
timidity init failed
timidity.cfg no such file or directory
when the game loads. I have the file '/etc/timidity/timidity.cfg'.
See
this topic.
Alternatively i can use enhanced music in OGG formay, just make sure to compile Vavoom with Vorbis support, and download vmusic-* archive.

2. What is the correct run command to load and run ETERNAL.WAD (the WAD for Eternal DOOM)? I got through the first two levels with no problems, other than some missing or misaligned textures, but level three crashed with regularity, making it unplayable. I would like to hear from someone who is playing Eternal DOOM successfully and what command line parameters they are using to run it. Right now I am thinking that I will need DOOM2.WAD v1.9 to run modified games. Correct me if I am wrong.
Yes, it needs DOOM2 1.9 wad afaik <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->
