Hi all When Messing with Vavoom I tried to get it play doom, I have sound but no music when I looked in the console it says no instrument mapped to drum set 0 or another number. To play music does this program use timidity files or something. IT seems to miss demos too where it attemps to do a demo it cant find the demo files. Do u know what is wrong here as I havent used this program for long. Vincent

Yes, Vavoom uses timidity for music, as for demos, demos in the original doom format don't work, if you want, you can record your own demos for it.

[quote="Firebrand":14zb6vit][...] demos in the original doom format don't work, [...] That's an annoyng part of the modern source ports. I dont know a modern source port who allows playing Doom original demos, appart of PrBoom, Chocolate Doom, and similars.

I wonder is it possible to write a demo converter? we have an open Doom source code (right?) and we have a Vavoom code, so these may be compared.

It's impossible.

But it's weird, I still cannot record demo in Vavoom. I am using 1.29. Before starting a game (doom2) I type, for example, "record mydemo map22", play for a bit, got killed, exit the game, and there was a mydemo file with only 4 bytes of data once again. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not sure, I think you need to type that command while ingame <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

Currently it works only for multiplayer games. To record single player you have to set console variable use_standalone to 0.

Firebrand, if you're not sure, you should try it in game first before giving advices to others <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> It works both.
