It does work! Maybe you forgot to specify what you need. For example, to get all weapons,  type<br><br>gimme weapons<br>

I had this problem as well, but I figured out the reason why. Native English speakers (or at least Americans) will tend to spell "gimme" as "gimmie" because that's the way it's spelled in publications ranging from comics to books. It's also the way it was in the original Heretic (I think).<br><br>That should solve people's problems.  :)

"gimme" is US slang for "give me" so I dare to disagree with your statement above. <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

I know several FPS games where cheat code is called "gimme", AKAIF Quake2 is one of them.

Heretic is the oldest one I know of.

American English speaker here. I have always, always spelled the word "gimme". Anyway.<br><br>Suggestion re: cheats, btw--could you make it so that the cheats work in the "nightmare" difficulty level, particularly on Strife? Sometimes the use of "noclip", for example, is absolutely necessary to get around a defect in the scripting or emulation of the original game.<br><br>Or, at least have a variable that we can set to 1 or 0 to enable/disable cheats in all difficulties. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I'll think about it.

Although not really Vavoom related:<br><br>In some cheat databases, I found the chead "GRP" for Strife to get the automap (gray lines for yet unvisited areas). But as far as I could find out, from Strife 1.0 to 1.3, no version really supports that cheat. So it might be a mistake.<br><br>I'm not sure how to find out from the EXE, which cheats do exist at all - and I'm not sure furthermore, if you indeed got any sources of Strife (not likely), or if still most of the support is guess-work (most probably).<br><br>So if someone has experience in spotting cheat codes (I know there are EXE editors for DOOM) or access to sources, please tell me which patterns shall be included in Strife, or how I can find out myself.

Strife cheat codes can be found at [url:35arrlar]http://www.vavoom-engine.com/strife/velocity_hints/cheats.htm, but it doesn't have a GRP cheat. You should get map with PUMPUP cheat.

LigH

I'm afraid there is no PUMPUP cheat for getting the automap; PUMPUPM gives a "mask" (maybe against toxic gas?).<br><br>But I took an old DOOM.EXE, applied DeHackEd 3.1, analyzed the differences, and re-made some JavaScript code (big bad reverse engineer!) to calculate cheat text into hex codes (to search for in the EXE) and vice versa. This way, I was able to find the offsets of the STRIFE cheats inside the STRIFE1.EXE, and could verify that there is no GRP cheat coded anywhere. (It is listed e.g. in the "Dirty Little Helper" database - I've sent them a correction offer).<br><br>If you like to play around with it:<br><br>DOOM cheat forward calculator<br>(enter a known cheat, calculate the hex codes, search for the hex pattern)<br>e.g. "gps" => "E6 2A EA"<br><br>DOOM cheat backward calculator<br>(look near that place for more hex patterns between some 00, 01 or FF bytes, copy their code, calculate their text)<br>e.g. "36 A6 E6 F6" => "lego"

Well the most important FPS game of all times (Heretic) is using "gimme", so that means "gimme" is THE standard, period. This discussion is hereby closed. [menacing look]<br><br><br>(LOL j/k)

Can't we have the old cheat system back instead of having to go to the console? I mean, out of the box, one surely expects "idbeholdr", for example, to give you a radiation suit when typed in the middle of the game. Is there a reason Vavoom does not recognise the standard cheat sequences?

I prefer having them as console commands. It has some advantage of authomaticy pausing the game and possibility to bind them to a key.

Could you please update the starting post of this thread for a complete list of Strife cheats, too (especially GIMME follow-up's)?

Am I able to turn on FPS counter during the game? (If such exists)
Thu, 19 Jan 2006 16:10:56

I think the command for that it's "show_fps 1" or something like that.

Ugh, no, its "draw_fps". Guessed to look into Vavoom source files.

It would be nice to have two other cheats for Strife... One for more money.. One for an instant stat boost or the stat boost vouchers...

Can I allow cheats in mutiplayer mode? Need them to do testing.

Currently no.

It can't be done like that, it should be something like "warp map16" because Vavoom also supports non standard map names, for example if a custom game has a map named 'castle' you can use something like "warp castle" and it should work fine too <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

Then I guess I'm out of luck. One of first levels in Mock2.wad crashes at start and I can't skip it. No I won't attach debug logs (yet), because so far I'm running Direct3D version through wine and that may be part of the problem.

You can do the following in such case, drop the console down at the title screen and type:
skill
With a number from 0 to 4 for the skill level. Then type:
warp mapXX
Where XX is the map you want to go, the game will start automatically at the specified map <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

What about changing levels ? idclev doesn't work in DooM2. warp sort of works, but it demands a map name, and this is highly irritating. I can't just warp 16 for example.

Not really a cheat -- but how can I turn on / off fast monsters, respawn, item respawn, etc. -- they things I use to set with args to doom.exe? I've tried the args from readme but not effect <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" tit
