While compiling Vavoom I get this at the end of make:

make[1]: *** [../../basev/doom1/progs/clprogs.dat] Illegal instruction
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/games/vavoom115_src/progs/doom'
make: *** [progs] Error 2

The Vavoom binary is built, but of course is practically useless. If I run it, I get the illegal instruction error.

Also, the wad files aren't made....

I'm using Vector Linux (slackware based distro) with make and GCC 2.95.3 with g++ support. Allegro 4.0.3 is installed. X is 4.2.1.

Any ideas? ???

Strange. Maybe go into utils/bin folder and try to run vcc and vlaunch. If they also fail, maybe there's something wrong with the compiler, so maybe try to edit the Makefile and disable optimization options -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer.

I'll give that a try. I haven't had any other problems compiling anything else on my machine, including Allegro.

My custom kernel seems happy in there too.
