Hi,

How do I get the music working under linux? The docs say to run the allegro setup utility to select sound options, but I can't find this utility anywhere. I have been searching the allegro site but can't find any mention of it. I have been playing around with the options in /etc/allegrorc, but so far no luck. I have also installed timidity and have pat file installed in /usr/local/share/timidity. I am using RedHat 7.3 with a soundblaster pci128. (es1370) Any suggestions or a working config file would be great.

Thanks,
Wiley

If you compiled Allegro yourself, go to the Allegro directory, there will be a directory 'setup' where you will find a program called 'setup'. OTOH if you installed precompiled binaries/libs, there's a chance that it won't be included.

Speaking of actual MIDI music, it may be a problem. I haven't managed to get MIDI work in Linux. This also may be a driver isue (i.e. sound is supported, but MIDI isn't). And software emulation isn't be best thing.

Thanks for the info. That did the trick. It is working now, it just sounds bad. I will have to try some different patches and see if that helps.
