[Fixed] -minzone, Hexen, and loading

I had the same problem with Hexen crashing after going through portals as some other people, so I read through the posts, and found mention of the -minzone option.

However, I tried running Hexen using various values of -minzone, and the larger the value, the worse my saved game got when I loaded it. I tried -minzone 1024 at first, and when I loaded my saved game (from before using -minzone) I couldn't do anything in the level except walk through walls and badguys and then crash the game.
Higher values made it crash upon loading the saved game.

Would 1024 be a bad value to use? Or is there some trouble with the difference in memory allocated before and after the saving that would kill it like that?

I'm close enough to the beginning where it wouldn't be hard to start over again, but I'd still like to be able to load my old game :P

This option couldn't cause such strange things. Can you load your savegames without changing it.

Yup, loads up no problem if I don't use the option.

Which is why it completely confuses me too ;D

I tried with and without using vlaunch. I think I'm in the second board off of the Seven Portals (where you walk forward and the floor drops making stairs and a pile of Ettins (four crushers and the sword light thing)).
Ahh, Guardian of Ice. When it does crash, it's because of a check for what an entity can see.

Using OpenGL at 640x480x32

Ah, when entering that sword-indicated portal the game crashed for us too - I told Camper to use the maxzone stuff, he insisted on minzone so he put both. After that, it didn't crash any more, but he didn't want to test which one fixed the prob so it could be either one.

Yeah, but my problem wasn't actually the sword. It was just any portals, after going through maybe four or five. But then minzone messes up my loaded game :-[
But Janis insists minzone is the proper solution. *sigh*

Wouldn't it be great if computers were like video game systems, where once it worked on one, it worked on 'em all? ;)

But then I have a computer hooked up to my TV to play all my console games using emulators anyway ;D Oh, and Vavoom too :-*
