*** glibc detected *** /usr/games/bin/vavoom.x86_64: double free or corruption (out): 0x00000000008b0100 ***
I'm on Gentoo x86_64, and just compiled the Ebuild from Gentoo bugzilla and I get this on launch. There's a large backtrace I can post if you need it. Thanks.

[list:301cblha] [*:301cblha]Have you put IWAD files in /usr/share/games/vavoom?[/*:m:301cblha] [*:301cblha]Are you in "games" group?[/*:m:301cblha] [*:301cblha]Post the output of
ls -l /usr/share/games/vavoom

chown -v root:games *.wad && chmod -v 640 *.wad

Oops! Silly me.. Your right. I didn't even bother to do that. I just installed it and automatically thought it'd check in /usr/share/games/doom-data or whatnot. Didn't read the emerge info message! Thanks a lot, I'm going to try it out in a minute and see if it works. I'm really in desperate need of a good Doom engine, and Doomsday doesn't look like it's going to be ported to AMD64 anytime soon with all of the architectural changes, and prBoom doesn't even have mouselook. Wow, thanks! It works.. but I've got another small bug report to compile up, I think..

The "Double free or corruption" error doesn't happen anymore, so it can be closed as fixed.
