[Not a bug] Item height and sound/music mix

Two things. First, it appears that barrels, armor (helmets) and health (blue vials) in Doom and Doom II are somewhat embedded in the floor, as if they're being rendered too low. It's not a problem, but it does look a little off. Second, in Doom and Doom II the menu sounds (like when you press "escape" or the arrows to change menu items, for example, from "new game" to "load game") are much too loud in comparison with the other game sounds. If I adjust the sound level so that the menu sounds are at a reasonable volume, the rest of the game sounds (gun firing, monster roaring) becomes very soft and muted, nearly inaudible. If I adjust the sound level so that the game sounds are a nice level, the menu sounds are incredibly loud. Is there a way to adjust the menu sound mix independently from the rest of the game sounds?

Sounds I can't help with, but there is a console variable for the sprites: open the console (with ~) and type r_fix_sprite_offsets = 1 Viola! Much better <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Try addjusting 3D sound parameters. In DirectSound they go quiet prety quickly, so it's hard to find good values.
