If I can remember them both

Don't know how you could do this, but I noticed when playing the Hexen expansion (Death Kings of the Dark Citadel, and not in Vavoom) that for some reson, the non-CD music doesn't play. I tried in Vavoom, and, sure enough,, no non-cd music there either. Any chance you could somehow work around this and make the Death Kings music go?

I'd also like to be able to use the numeric keypad enter button to enter things in the game, like in the menus and stuff like that. My brother's regular enter button is broked, and it's a pain to use

While doing the KMOD2 patch (hey BTW it'll be online in an hour or 2), we've found out where to add MIDI music capability to Hexen. Which CD track to play in a level is in the wad entry mapinfo, and which MIDI music play is in the entry sndinfo. Raven simply never bothered to make entries for the Deathkings maps. So if anyone takes time and determines which CD track correspond to which MIDI track, he/she can create a new mini-wadfile with the new soundinfo and distribute it over the net (just send me and I'll put it up on RavenGames). It'd just need to be loaded in any of the new ports and voil

I seee.... explain to me how it can be done, and I shall do it. Or at least I can figure out which track is what...
I don't quite get how you caould make a wadfile just for the music, but then again, I don't know all too much about Hexen editing, 'cept for back in the day when it was new :P

Actually, we're going to make it for the next KMOD2 patch (late March) anyway, but if you could make a list of which MIDI file name corresponds to which CD track number, it'd save us ~ 3/4 of the whole work, the remaining part is faster to do than to explain.

Alrighty... here you go :)
I think I dumped the midi files... but it was long ago... anyways, here's how the tracks on my cd lne up with midi file names (assuming all of the midi names are correct...)

Track 2 - jachr
Track 3 - blechr
Track 4 - hexen
Track 5 - orb
Track 6 - hall
Track 7 - chess
Track 8 - cryptr
Track 9 - falconr
Track 10 - octor
Track 11 - rithmr
Track 12 - sixater
Track 13 - winnowr
Track 14 - swampr
Track 15 - wutzitr
Track 16 - bonesr
Track 17 - chap_1r
Track 18 - chap_4r
Track 19 - fantar
Track 20 - foojar
Track 21 - levelr
Track 22 - simonr

and then a bunch (of midi files) left over :-/

Odd how there are more midi files in the game than there are CD tracks... that's why I like being able to use midi with Hexen... more variety means added intrigue ;D

Very good, thanks.

Hexen is maybe the most music-rich 3D action game ever, for 31 maps there were 30 MIDI tracks (the only one coming twice is the music in Shadow Wood and the Effluvium). Compared to the average ratio of most shooters of that time (Heretic had for 27 maps 19 MIDI tracks, DOOM I think even less), especially to the lame 30+ to 5 of Witchaven, it was rather spectacular. What's more, most of the tracks are really good.

The CD Audio is only a part of this because there simply wasn't more space on the disc.
