Hi,

I am very impressed with Vavoom. In fact I am going to be switching from the Doomsday engine to it, because I am so impressed with it. Unfortunately the idea of the Korax Mod being switched over to Vavoom looks bleak (from what I hear) which really disappoints me, but regardless Vavoom is just so much better in the departments that I want than the Doomsday engine that it makes up for it.

The only things I really, *really* miss about the Doomsday engine is -

1. Lense Flares. They just make my jaw drop every time I see lense flares. They make the game look so much better.

2. Full View info. Heretic and Hexen desperately need the mana, inventory, armor and whatever else drawn while having the status bar maximized.

3. KMod guys get to work on the Vavoom port of KMod!!

hehe

Very impressed gamer,

Zeus

The only glaring issue with Vavoom is a complete lack of multiplayer save/load game support. Put this at the top of the list. :-/

- Zeus

Yep, MP save/load would have to be implemented for a KMOD coop. Until it's finished, releasing a Vavoom-based KMOD wouldn't really be worth the effort. The good news is that for our multiplayer only Vavoom project, Korax Arena, there is no need for save/load (who wants to save deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF etc.?).

MP save in client/server is a quite complex task and at the moment I don't have ideas on how to this fast and easy.

Lens-flares: persomally I don't like them much.

Additional stats in Hexen isn't aproblem.

As for lens flares, I agree, they aren't that cool IMO.

Does this mean what I think it means. (KMod 3)

Yep... if Vavoom has working save/load for MP by late Summer, chances are good for a KMOD 3 for Xmas.

I respect the fact that you do not like lens flares. There are many players who do. I'm asking you to make the game more enjoyable for me. I simply love looking around the room and seeing many torches burning with what feels like real light.

Graphically speaking, the only thing that JHexen has on Vavoom is the lens flares. I'm not sure why but they make the game feel so much more real.

Of course in the end everything rests on your shoulders, I am utterly helpless when it comes to putting lens flares in the game. Without your help, I'm totally out of luck. Thanks for your time.

- Zeus

PS I checked out Vavoom while using Doom II. Man, it is just incredible. I am totally in love with this engine.

Heh, I'm not too big a fan of lens flares any more either. Although, Legacy/Unreal style coronas would be nice, especially placeable ones

Yep, coronas are nice and I think they are prety easy to implement.
