[Fixed] Aspect Ratio

It seems Vavom uses the wrong aspect ratio in opengl and even software. It should be fixed at 1.6 (320x200).<br><br>This is why everything seems a bit too 'wide' in Vavoom. (Take a screenshot of the start of map01 in vavoom then the same place in zdoom or another doom port to see what i mean...)

That's right, Vavoom uses aspect ratio 3:4 (320x240) which is more correct, i.e. it has square pixels. Old aspect ratio can cause bad effects when tilting the camera.

What about scaling all sprites? They really look weird with this aspect ratio.

A console variable can be added, if you want it so deadly.<br><br>Scaling only sprites is a wrong idea - everything must be scaled.

Does it really metter that much to you if sprites look odd everything will be 3D befor to long.<br><br>If you really really want your 'better' aspect ratio why don't you do it ur self. I'll even do it if you really want but I might punish you by taken out multiplayer and having mage as the only player.<br><br>If you haden't guessed I don't think Janis' aspect ratio is bad.

Well I think the aspect ratio is bad. It looks less like the original doom <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --><br><br>You get out from playing ZDoom, fire up Vavoom, and its like 'whoa, stretchy!' <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

Me, it disturbs too. The point about 3D models is well taken, but with some limitations. While it's already true for DOOM, for Heretic it's not yet half-finished and for Hexen it's nearly zero % completed. Not to mention Strife.<br><br>I think a console variable or a menu setting would be the best. Important is that it'll be saved for the next session(s).
