[Duplicate] Maps unreadable

In heretic, hexen and to a lesser extent strife the map colors result in invisible walls. when you have seen or passed walls in these games the color of them blends into the background. Maybe if you could change all or some of the colors this could be solved.

It's because there are missing textures.

[quote="Janis Legzdinsh":tn7eg4jc]It's because there are missing textures. I think he meant on the map itself... like having brown lines on the map on a slightly different colored brown background makes them hard to see

Oh, you mean automap. There are several am_color_* console variables that you can play with.

How about a way to change the background color/bitmap

Thanks for the am_color info. Had to look a bit to find em. I created a file - basev/colors.cfg and added the parameter +exec colors.cfg to my command line. My colors.cfg contains - am_color_cdwall "94 94 ec" am_color_fdwall "e0 6c 40" am_color_grid "4d 9d 42" am_color_player "ff ff ff" am_color_power "6d 73 69" am_color_secretwall "00 00 00" am_color_thing "2d 2d 2d" am_color_tswall "61 64 5f" am_color_wall "f0 f0 15" This creates a useable automap in all games.

[quote="Firebrand":44bze5hk]Is it a normal image lump? No it's a raw image data. It's 320 pixels wide, height is 200 - status_bar_height (you can calculate it by dividing lump size with 320).
